X79 Mobo

Go to solution Solved by SuperPug,

Yea z97 isn't really for me, I game but also do a lot of work with Cad, keyshot, maya and zbrush to name a few. Need the extra cores. But I have been thinking about going X99, the only thing is DDR4. So expensive . I am open to the idea, try to persuade me if you feel like it :P lol

Well tbh theres no real reason to justify selling the 4930K except that you could get a X99 board for the same amount as the X79 (bigger selection in the 200Euro range). And im pretty sure you could unload the 4930K for around 250Euro.

So my RIVBE crapped out on me and the place I bought it from is giving me a full refund. So, this time round, I am just wanting a Mobo for my 4930k that is reliable, good, has some aesthetics and not too expensive this time round, gonna reallocate the extra money to other parts of the build. Anyways, looking for suggestions, I live in Germany, to do pricing, look at Amazon.de - pcpartpicker isn't accurate cuz it doesn't show everything you can get here. And my budget would be around 200€ preferably. Thanks in advance

Should I increase my budget? And if so what would you recommend. Don't feel like spending 500€ again.

Nahh, I can buy from many places, just mentions amazon.de as it represents what I could buy pretty well. You can look at other places as well. Edit: http://www.geizhals.de http://www.caseking.de

i would go with the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3. its not overloaded with stuff i wouldnt really use (i.e chipset fans) and has everything I would use. (i.e USB 3, SATA III, SLI/CFX Support. usage varies from person to person) It should be around €300

You could sell the 4930K (they still go for alot) and just upgrade to either Z97 (if you're just gaming) or X99.

True enough, any suggestions on some decent DDR4 ram but not wallet burning. Lastly, 5820k or 5930k? Or even a xeon?

For the Ram any of the following have pretty good price/GB ratio especially @ lower speeds (2133 & 2400):

-A-Data XPG Z1

-G.Skill Ripjaws 4 / G.Skill Value

-Corsair Vengeance LPX

And as far as the CPU goes i'd say get the 5820K for similar / slightly better performance than the 4930K http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1331?vs=1320

Honestly never heard of Panram but they seem alright and i think they're making their own chips. You cant really go too wrong with ram anyways... :P
