So I am about to make the plunge into my first gaming PC and I have changed each component and tried to fine tune it to my needs... The components are as follows:

CPU: Core i7 5820k (extra cores for emulation/simulation as well as light video editing)

CPU Cooler: H110 (or H110i GT if I can find it anywhere)

Mobo: Asus X99 Pro

RAM: The cheapest 8gb kit with decent speeds when I go to Newegg. (upgrade to 16gb when DDR4 becomes cheaper)

Storage: Crucial MX100 (AMAZING price per gb)

GPU: EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 SC

Case: Enthoo Pro

PSU: HX850i

OS: Windows 8.1 (will upgrade to Windows 10 in a heartbeat when available)

If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Question: Why X99 for a "gaming build"?

I don't want to upgrade my CPU for as long as possible and DX12 will result in multithreaded performance increases. I also do lots of emulation/simulation. I also will take some of my projects for video production home and work on it with a computer with more cores (the school uses 4 core Xeons and 6gb of ram). I am also an enthusiast that can not stand the "mainstream" branding.
