Using a serial mouse under Windows 7.

I just found my old Microsoft serial mouse and I was wondering how I'd get it to work under Windows 7. I've got a newer PS/2 version working as my daily driver (I've had 5 $50+ mice die in the last 3 years whilst the Microsft mouse works perfectly still), but I don't know if the serial mouse even works its been that long since it was last used.

I've got the correct cable (found a whole unopened bag of them) and a free COM port on the motherboard if that helps (motherboard ASUS H87M-Pro).
