Hey guys..I did not find anything on the forums regarding this topic. Has anyone heard about D-Wave's supposedly "Quantum" computer? Some experts state that it is not a real "Quantum" computer. What do you think?  It would be awesome if Linus does a video about this topic.

I have personally seen the Dwave quantum computer first hand.

As part of my engineering program we went to go on a tour there. Our school is about a 10 minute walk for Dwave.

The technology they have in there is stellar and the CPU's have to be cooled to the mK (milli-Kelvin).

Concerning the part of if it is a real quantum computer, it is.

It operates on q-bits and can have more than a value of 1 or 0.

I can't say much more though because of a signed disclosure form after visiting there.

It's my understanding is that D-Wave's implementation is not a completely "full-fledged" quantum computer as far as the theory goes because their system focuses on registering spin through a specified point on the qubit; kind of like the price is right wheel spinning around the dial. BUT I've also read that theoretical quantum computers are really questionable on the feasibility scale, and that D-Wave's approach might be in the line of real life applicability. The one thing that nobody can dispute at this point though is that they have earned the ear of big business with Google, NASA, and the ominous Lockheed Martin Corporation all currently throwing piles of money at them. My bet is that there system performs respectably.
