HDMI possibly broken?

Go to solution Solved by z0ne,

Maybe you could take a pair of pliers or large tweezers to bend it a little tighter so it'll keep hanging in? Or ductape is your friend.

About 1 hour ago, I accidently snapped my HDMI cable out of my tv, with my leg(sounds crazy right?) well, now it won't fit, and I am afraid I can't fix it. The cable is just fine, but it wont sit in the input on the tv. As soon as I let it go, it falls out. What can I do to fix it? The metal thing inside the tv looks a little bent.

I will try that asap. Not sure about ductape, would rather have something more.. permanent

I will take some pictures, right now I don't have time. Going back to school in 30 min, we are working on a big project, I was at home because of my wisdomtooth getting pulled out :P

Thank you, I have a feeling I will need the luck.

Or you can compare it to other ports and see what is different about it.

It is definitely bent a little bit, possibly a little less longer and a little bit wider, as said, the pictures will be provided as soon as I have time.

Edit:

If I'm screwed, is it possible to get an USB to HDMI adapter? I have plenty of working usb ports on the tv.

I was thinking that if you are screwed you could get a male to female HDMI adapter (as small as possible) and secure that into the back of your tv

EDIT: assuming that the port still works

alternatively your warrently may still be good....

Turns out the input is dead, I have two other connections with HDMI, but they are on the very back, and only a 90 degree hdmi cable MIGHT just fit in, I am not even sure it that would work. There is almost no space.

Was there any HDMI-USB things? If 90 degree wont even work?

Edit: Seems like hdmi-usb costs 500dkk (50£) so yea, if the angled one is not low profile enough, I am screwed.

Edit yet again: Does anyone else have any experience with a possibly dead input on a Samsung TV? I can't be the first one right? What did you do? I am sitting hear, pretty much ready to pay to get a cable shipped. If that cable is not low profile enough, then I need a new wall mount or need to rethink my setup.

Last edit: Thank you for helping me, tried fitting a 1.8cm wide eraser behind the tv, sits just fine, and the advertised thickness of the cable I am buying is 1.8, so I am just fine.

nice sounds like a plan.

plus you could see if there are broken pins in there because you could possibly fix with a tweezer

also see what the status of waranty is.

Why would warranty fix this? I broke it :P Also, when I tried to fix it with a tweezer, it moved a little bit but fell right back.
