OK, so if i get a d5 with the built in barbs http://www.frozencpu.com/products/23616/ex-pmp-305/Koolance_PMP-450_12_ID_Native_Liquid_Cooling_Pump_PMP-450.html?tl=g30c107s1802#blank

and stretch 5/8 tubing over them like in linus'es ultimate build guide, and zip tie them, would there be a risk of leakage?

Any advantage/dissadvantage of using seperate pump/res than pump mounted to res?

Don't cheap out on your PC parts.

It wouldn't be nearly as safe as using a top and fittings. You'd be fine if you do it correctly...but... if you do it correctly

I'd strongly recommend just putting the extra cash into it. As someone in a very similar position to you, trying to watercool on a budget, i bade you great caution

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Not very likely to leak if your worried a hose clamp will basically never let go of the tube, and as for separating the reservoir and pump it will lessen vibrations transfer to the case with a soft tube link. As for the pump there are versions that also have built in barbs or aftermarket tops you can get to use compression fittings.

K, I'll get one with a pump top.

I want it to look good.

Now, should I spring extra cash for dual 180 rad, or save 40$ and get a single 180 rad?

Pump tops are usually the best option since you can always transfer it over if you need to change the pump or have extra inlet and outlet ports for the loop. (most have more than one in and out)

Yeah, and it looks better.

I'll need 2 more fittings then.

But that's fine.

I live literally 5 min from frozen CPU, so no shipping costs on anything

Just wondering why are you planning to use 180mm radiators? There is a 180mm silverstone fasn which is decent for radiators but not too many other options compared to 140mm or 120mm.

Dual radiators are a better value than single radiators usually since it only take a bit more material for some extra size but that diminished after a certain point.

Double your cooling for 40 bucks?

Is that even a question!?

You have to ask yourself what you value more, future expandability or 40 bucks?

I'd go for the futureproofing, it doesnt hurt

I'm not using a pump top on mine. Honestly you don't need to. As long as you have something secure, some people recommend zip ties...I'm using some metal hose clamps. You use a screw driver to tighten them, so you can get them REALLY tight, unlike zip ties. Once you stretch your tubing over the pump (good luck) you'll see how hard it is, and how freaking snug it is. Honestly I expect no leaks by doing this and I'm not wasting $50 + bucks on a after market kit. If my pump was visable I would have done this, but it's hidden so no need to waste $50 bucks on something I want see. I didn't cheap out on any of my parts for my build, and I don't consider this cheaping out either, it's extremely secure.
