graphics card backplate question

I bought a gigabtye windforce 3 oc gtx 970 that  came without a backplate and  ek sales one that  says ti works with the card. However, it says  on frozen cpu that it isn't a standalone  unit. what promoted this research was i noticed a bend  in my card's  pcb and  was wondering can i still in stall the backplate  sold  by ek without the water block or is  it  even worth it to try .

not a flame war bro this is a discussion and help there is nothing wrong with the card even if it  has a small memory barrier that  very few users run in to.

The backplate is designed to line up and fit with the corresponding EK waterblock. While the holes should still line up with the cooler, the screws may need changing.

nvidia does not deserve our money. Tom P is a Coxx Sxxx and the 970 lacks value and longevity. That;s why !

His opinion is kinda bias and not really helpful at all, like you said. The GTX 970 should not be referred to as a piece of crap all because of the memory issue. That's gonna do nothing but start an argument that is definitely not needed.
