Converting a 6+2pin to 6pin

Hello folks,

I'm trying my first adventures on sleeving power cables. The thing is I have an OCZ ZX850W which have only 8pin exits, and a HD7950 with two 6pin connector. Until deciding on sleeving my power cables that came with the PSU I had no problem with the +2pin hanging out of the 6pin, but now I've decide to get rid of them on behalf of my rig good looks.

My question is: can I just not connect the 2 cables coming out of the 8pin side on to the +2pin?

PS.: Sorry for the not resized pics.

Right! It's called a 6+2, because the extra two pins are completely optional!

yes, it's supposed to be like that in case you don't need the +2 part
