Display driver causing black screen

Go to solution Solved by DildorTheDecent,

I've never heard of that, that might be it. I'm using an ASUS vg248qe with displayport

Try HDMI or DVI if you have the cable.

Hi guys, I just finished my first build, but as I downloaded the driver for my graphics card, the screen went black then to sleep right after the startup. It showed the windows logo and just stopped. I've done some research myself and I know it is some drivers that don't get along. I've tried deleting old drivers from the safe mode with the display driver uninstaller, but then I don't have any drivers for my games and I can't launch Battlefield 4. What do I do?

Hardware specs:

ASUS Maximus VII Hero

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 G1 Gaming

2x Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB in RAID 0

PS: It's Windows 7

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred V3 | Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero | CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4.4GHz | RAM: G. Skill RipjawsX DDR3-2133 MHz C9 QC - 16GB | GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 G1 Gaming | PSU: Corsair AX860 | SSD: 2x Samsung 840 EVO SSD's in RAID 0

If you don't have any drivers after deleting them then just get the older ones if the newer stuff causes problems.

Can I find older drivers on their own webpage? Do you have any suggestions?

Try 347.09, And do a clean install when prompted.

Some people say that DisplayPort has this Black screen issue? What are you using for a monitor and which port?

I tried the HDMI and it worked! It's sad that I can't have 144Hz, but thank you very much!

For anyone in the future having this problem, I switched to HDMI and it worked. Then I inserted the Displayport cable to the same monitor at the same time as the HDMI, so there were 2 different cables in the monitor from the same GPU. Then I switched source on the monitor from HDMI to displayport and unplugged the HDMI, and then the displayport worked just fine.
