Is the Amazon Fire TV and other similar products just for people who don't have a cable subscription and just want to have all of their streaming services in one place?

Amazon fire tv is a set top box that allows you to stream amazon video services as well as others like netflix and youtube. If you don't have amazon prime, don't get fire tv.  I have fire tv and it's pretty nice. The box is fast and wifi streaming seems to be pretty decent. I like the remote also.
