Correction: it DOES have a 0db feature, just as the strix.

Wow I had like no idea, I thought it was exclusive to Strix

It does according to the video. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127832&cm_re=msi_gtx_970-_-14-127-832-_-Product Scroll down and click the video. It also has a superior heatsink to the Strix. This has 4 heatpipes, whereas, the Strix has 3.

The Asus and EVGA cards have the 0db feature, I don't think any other brand does out of box.

You can always change the fan curve in MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision to not turn on until it needs to.

If you've never done it before it sounds difficult and dangerous but the GPU will throttle itself down well before it dies of heat.

Some gigabyte ones now have

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

I have the MSI 4G 980 and it may be the quietest thing in my system even under load.

It for sure has the 0db fan mode like the Strix and EVGA cards.

From what I've read the Strix cards are very quiet under load as well so that is another one to look at.

I personally don't trust EVGA coolers after having an EVGA 760 with their ACX cooler.

Even at idle that thing was easily the loudest component in my system and I personally wont buy another one until I hear an EVGA card running in person.
