Hi my mate is looking for a basic pc on a small budget , he is not looking to game on it he just wants to perform basic tasks.

He has a hard drive from his old pc so that is not really a necessity.

OS does not need to be included either.

Would be a real help if some of you could link some part picker links.

Thanks :)

I went with an i3 so he can game and multi task should he want to, but he could save some money by either going with an AMD APU or by getting an Intel Pentium. And as for the psu, I went with something cheap but still good for general use.

An i3 can handle gaming just fine, so it would make more sense to save the money and just get an i3.

Anything elts you could add or improve on as he has 70 pound more to spend , maybe change the CPU to a FX series one or upgrading the case or psu?

FX cpus are pretty bad these days -- especially when most general use applications aren't heavily threaded (heavily threaded application use when on a tight budget is literally the only reason to ever consider going FX).

He could/should get an ssd though -- either 120gb or 250gb depending on how much he'll actually use.
