AMD is winning in the GPU market IMHO because of the 970 VRAM issue, the only other option is 290, which is only $239, compition for the 960...

CPU's: For gaming they are bad, but the 8320 and a hyper 212 can get you very far for video editing.

if they can come up with a CPU that can go head to head with the upper i5s or even low i7s in performance not necessarily efficiency, then they will bringing something interesting to the table and make the mainstream performance more competitive.

AMD CPU's are unpopular to PC enthusiasts because many people like Intel's CPU performance better.

However AMD graphics cards usually offer much more bang for the buck, and they APU's are pretty killer for their price.

 

I think people here are too one-visioned by PC building, modding e.t.c.

 

If you take a look at retail shelves where most people actually buy PC's, AMD holds very strong in the market. You will find many of their products in laptops and desktops. 

As well AMD owns Global Foundries. Global Foundries hosts semi-conductor production for many markets including Aviation, Health Care, Automotive, e.t.c.

Almost everything uses electronics now a days. Even if their CPU market is dying (this may not be true) it does not mean the company is dead.

Financially speaking, AMD is doing great. AMD is thriving, with 5.3 Billion dollars in revenue. For comparison in 2013, Nvidia brought in 4.13 Billion in revenues.

Heck isn't AMD ment to be releasing the actual replacements for the FX 8350 and 8320 in 2016 with the new Zen architecture (16/14nm?), add on if they can do something amazing with the 390X.

plus they got new ceo in and a few other people in too.

 

all they need is to do is just give us Phenom lll and i'll be mega hyped.

 

think times are exciting for them :].

 

and bare in mind older 7900 series cards are still going very strong nowadays, 7950 Is probably the top 3 best bang for your bucks when it comes to graphics cards today O_o
