I am planning to build a gaming pc in the summer....BUT........ I am on a budget.

so is the msi gtx 970 twinfrozr good enough to play at 1080p ultra setting for some years??

I wanted to get a 970 then add another one after a year or something ~_~

SO is the 970 future proof at 1080p...

so is this right or what??

yes thats future proof just think the gtx 680 is still a good card and the gtx 650 can play battlefield on medium settings at 60fps

We can give you a guess or estimate but we are never sure because we don't know what the future holds.

I'd see yes, but you won't be able to run games on ultra settings in a few years.

It may be worth waiting for the R9 3XX series.

There are reports of vRAM issues with the 970, so it also may be best to hold off buying one until Nvidia makes a statement on it. It may turn out to be a one off, or all of the 970s are affected, we don't know yet.

future proofing is a tough thing to gauge. As texture sizes keep increasing to accomodate higher resolutions, memory bandwidth is also important (even with slightly better compression with Maxwell than Kepler), and not just memory size.

you should be good for a while at 1080p though (if not using DSR).
