I have taken a system image and put it on an external HDD, this got me to thinking "why didn't I put images for all the Windows computers(two desktops[one 7 one 8.1] two laptops[one vista one 8] ) on one HDD" .Then either give this to a neighbour or store somewhere else way off-site, ok a hassle to get but would save many tears if any of the systems died say within the next few months or so ( already have a copy of the boys photos from when they were bairns at my brothers house on a USB stick just in case of disaster) longer than that and a re-install would probably not take much longer than an image and update .  Thing is when re imaging this system, as I removed the SSD which had the OS on it, I didn't notice at any point a choice of what to use as the system image this had me thinking perhaps the rescue disk just gets the system to look for AN image, and doesn't give you a choice of which image to use. Was this lack of choice just because there was only one image to choose from or can you not store multipel images on one HDD

TL:DR can I put more than one machines' image on a HDD?
