Depends on program I think, but in general you need lots of RAM and a snappy CPU for photo editing stuff. Some programs really make use of a strong GPU better than others.

Depends on the scale.

 

I would argue a 6300 would be enough for light photo editing.

so i should spend moar on gpu? if yes do these type of work benefit from stream core or cuda?

would a 860k work i can get one for free from uncle. i edit photo alot, but i dont have a job. but for 2d,graphic, and digital art im still practicing only

Depends on program I think, but in general you need lots of RAM and a snappy CPU for photo editing stuff. Some programs really make use of a strong GPU better than others.

I used my phenom II for photo editing , and its about the same.

Should be fine.

 

Get something like a 750 ti or a 270 with it.

does 2d design, photography work, graphic design, and digital art rely  more on gpu or cpu? i use any software that is good btw

Budget, location, any intentions to game on this machine as well or is it purely a workstation?

Any parts of another system you want to re-use? do you need OS, peripherals, monitors to be included in the budget?
