Hello peoplE.

Another day another question. I am running out of space on my current HDD. So i am thinking to buy a new hdd maybe sshd if the price difference can help me speed up the launch of google chrome.

Now I dont care about booting apeed or starting of game fastlY. even though it is noce but for me ssd of 128gb is very less and higher capacity i cant afford.

So what you say Seagate barracuda 4tb(any other you would suggest) or seagate sshd.

However what if i can use 128 gb for caching and install everything on Hdd.(Is that even possible?)

Actually, if you're not going full SSD, an SSHD might work well.

this is probably the only place i'll hang out anymore: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/274320-the-long-awaited-car-thread/

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

agreed, some sort of cache would be good, if he can get it for a good price

seagate barracuda 1tb. But i am going to buy a 4tb one either sshd or hdd

but i will buy ssd for caching only if the performance worths it.

with the sshd, there is only 8gb of cache, and they only run at 5900 rpm for the 4tb version at least

id go with a smaller hdd and add a ssd, even if you dont set up the ssd as cache you can still run your most used programs on it. for other programs or files, you'd have a faster hdd for the stuff that wouldnt have been cached anyway.

Storage: Corsair Force LS 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Toshiba  3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($95.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $135.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

that is the problem. I have quite a long list of programs and as i am an civil and architectural engineering student That list is quite long with heavy programs. Now I like trhe things in default i know I can change directories but I dont want to.

for toshiba I heard they are not relaiable and I cant risk getting from newegg as I live in oman so no warranties or rma whatsoever for me.

now I just wanted to ask are you really sure about 5900RPM what about barracuda. it does same?

so i looked at every drive and i think wd black is good for me because of 5 years of warrantY.

Now I think they support that warranty for oman also(WD people still here? If they are can any one tag 'em)

so i think i'll go with wd black 3tb and maybe an ssd for caching. I can install all adobe and AUTODESK programs On an ssd but if it performs significantly better by caching for any running program why not thaT.

And for ssd i heard good things about crucial mx100 or sth.

Thanks for links btw
