Hello all Ive recently been encountering a problem that is really not settling well with me. Alright so recently we had some Comcast technicians come out to my house to install a new modem or whatever. It installed and it worked fine for a few days but so recently almost every night at about 7 the internet does this thing that makes me want to do bad things. http://gyazo.com/f33b280cc3ec22934568a9635f8be8fd this is the problem. About every 5 seconds the ping shoots up causing my Skype calls to freeze every few seconds as well as making smash bros lag at the same interval. I use Skype and smash bros on a wireless connection but I also tested it on a wired connection and sure as Hitler the same ping spikes occurred. are there anythings that I can do to fix this? Any help would be very much appreciated.

That was probably an opinion

Call Comcast tech support.......? No just kidding. Try restarting your router/modem and see if that makes a difference. If not then you might actually wanna try calling them and complaining. Not sure if they're going to do anything about it though.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

I don't know how to fix the problem but I would recommend using your own modem and router.

I restarted it one time and it fixed the problem but the next day it happened again.

I have my own router but im not sure if my parents are willing to shell out for a new modem. Is their a way to see if its my modem thats causing the problems?

I belive they threw it away against my will because it was "shitty" the pc enthusiast in me died that day they threw away a spare.

:(, well I'm not a networking expert so really all I could think of was to test it with a different modem

Maybe the modem is directing most bandwidth to the device that needs it. That would make sense, have you tried it with just your PC on the internet?
