Slow hard drive

So I'm currently using a hard drive a Seagate 1TB 5600 or 5900RPM. It's constantly pinned at 100% and the computer freezes sometimes and loads very slowly, is it because of this?

I have a 4790k, 16gb RAM and a GTX 970; the temperatures of these are low, at idle and under load

Chrome bunch of tabs, uTorrent (legal torrents...), skype, spotify, puush and malware bytes anti malware

I think it's because of the torrents.

Your problem is that its an old Seagate, any old slow HDD will suck dix.

yeah it's due an upgrade, just wanted to make sure this is the problem

You can improve speed by defragging it. Also, you have many programs that utilize disk usage. So for now, disably any active scanning from AV and pause torrents while doing other stuff that uses disk. I don't know that much about HDD specs, but somehow 8MB cache sounds really low compared to modern 32MB or 64MB cache.
