For 1440p it's great, 4k it's pretty good, and 1080p it's meh. 

1440p it's great because you'll be able to max out most games (most as in all except poorly optimized titles (like DayZ, Ubisoft games, etc).

4k it's pretty good because you'll be able to near max out most current games, but for future use it'll be pretty lackluster in AAA titles.

1080p it's flat out overkill, and you may as well buy a single 970, put the $400 in savings, and buy the future card for when you need an upgrade (probably not any time soon for 1080p)
