Should I root my G3?

Go to solution Solved by Wtalk2,

Well, I've never installed a rom before doe, so this should be an experience

Just make sure you keep everything backed up because everything is usually wiped when flashing a custom ROM. Also make sure that the ROM you choose is well supported and doesn't have any major bugs (Such as making the camera non-functional or making the GPS radio non-functional) so you can get the best experience possible :D

PS: I am sooooo jealous of people that are able to flash custom ROM's to their phones. Mines totally locked down and rooting is pretty much as far as I can go :(

So a few months in I'm starting to miss the stock experience that I got with the Nexus 4 and I'm looking to install stock lollipop on it. I'm with optus in Australia, are there any warranty related issues I have to worry about?

I'm fairly sure rooting will void your warranty but it is SO worth it if you want to really tinker with the phone and get the experience you really want :)

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

Yeah I did it on my Nexus 4, however that was unlocked... I'm just thinking about possible conflicts with the carrier

It shouldn't conflict with the carrier at all. My LG P769 is locked to WIND Mobile and I have it rooted and it works just fine still :)

you can allways(mostly) flash back the original OS and whip any evidence of rooting.  and yes rooting can give a whole lot of extra functions.

if you decide to root your phone try out some xposed modules.
