Streaming/Recording Gameplay

I'm wondering if any of you have some experience with this, and I'm more than sure there are some of you out there.  I would like to set my rig up with a main SSD for my OS and necessary utility programs, and then utilize at some point a larger SSD for gaming/streaming and then dump the recorded files to a regular larger HDD.  Do any of you do this or some combination there of?  Would this be logical, useless... etc?
