Ok so i have an asrock z87 oc formula with a i7 4790k and i need to update the bios inorder to get the i7 to work so i got a celeron in order to update but now i cant figure out how to unzip the downloaded bios from asrock's website. Can anyine tell me how to do all of this step by step? Thank you guys very much!

In ASRocks UEFI they should have something called Instant Flash (in advanced IIRC). Enter it and find your UEFI file on your drive and update.

 

If it's an actual .zip/.rar you can't unzip... try WinRAR or 7Zip.

you need to upzip the file you download from the Asrock website

 

the file should be a some configuration file similar to Asus .CAP file

 

you need to put the file directly on the root folder of a FAT or FAT32 formated thumbdrive

 

you cant use NTFS as the UEFI do not detect drives using NTFS

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
