backup data on PC from broken S3

so my Galaxy S3s screen broke and i wanted to back everyhting up on my PC, problem is... its locked with a pattern code so unless its on the home screen i cant access my files. what do i do? (i dont have them backed up on my google account)

Not sure I would store imperative data on my smartphone, unless it's already backed up somewhere else.

well, theyre pictures from a trip (which i consider important) that happened the same day the phone broke.

If ADB is enabled, you could use that.  I've seen people completely disable lockscreens with it, and then you could use 

adb pull

To take files off of the device.

Does the screen still display a picture but it wont accept input?  If so you can use a usb mouse and an OTG cable to enter the code.

no the screen is wrecked, the gorilla glass is perfectly intact but its the physical screen under thats broken

if you don't know if adb is enabled, it probably isn't.  You would've had to enable developer tools and then enabled the adb over usb connection....
