Hello. I recently built my first computer and it runs great unt I upload the drivers of my video card. Then I get a blank, blue screen. No error code.

This is what I did and still had the same issue:

-Made sure the lock clicked when my gpu was inserted.

-Made sure my PCI-E cables were secure.

-Checked the BIOs to make sure I wasn't using too much wattage.

In safe mode:

-Updated the drivers from the NVidea website

-updated the BIOs from the manufacturer website

-Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers

-reinstalled Windows 8.1

With the video card:

-had my card replaced

-called my motherboard manufacturer and asked them to look up a 970 card that was compatible

-ordered that card

After all of this, hours on the phone, I still had the blue screen. The on-board graphics of the MB worked fine, but as soon as I hooked in a video card, it was over.

The blue screen didn't not happen until right after the windows loading screen right before the log in page.

I'm guessing it's the motherboard. I check the pins and there were no bent ones that I could see.

I started with an EVGA GTX970 SC, then went with an ASUS GTX GEFORCE970 Strix OC. My motherboard is an ASUS Z97-C.

I am considering getting a new motherboard. If anyone has any suggestions on what the issue may be and what other motherboards to consider I would appreciate it!

I love how you called them and there best answer was go with the same make GPU as the M-Board nice. I had that happen to me 1 time and 1 time only. It killed my Crosshair5 and both my EVGA 550TI's. Im not saying that that is the case with you my friend. Try putting the card in the next PCI-E and start her from there. If it does it again and you did replace the GPU .. More than likely its the Board man. If not well then Humph. ;)

Gonna cuffem and stuffem. QUE QUE QUE. I love it I love it. :P
