what is the use of usb ready boost and is it effectve in windows 8.1?

no, unless its a usb 3.1 drive on a usb 3.1 port, with insane usb  speeds .

it was made for laptops with low ram to have somewhere other then the hdd to cahce, but usb 2 was slow af, and it just doens't make sense, long run better to upgrade ram
