Intel G3258 overclocking problem

Hi,

 

I have a problem when i try 4,7 GHz or 4,8 GHZ i get always bluescreens...

 

Settings for 4,7 GHZ are 100 x 47 and Voltage is 1,40

Settings for 4,8 GHZ are 100 x 48 and voltage is 1,41

 

Mainboard: SABERTOOTH_Z97_MARK_1

Ram 16 GB Ballistix-Sport-XT 1600MHZ

 

Cpu is watercooler (H110) 

 

Should i go higher with voltage?

each cpu's has it's max overclocking cap...yours is 4.6ghz mate

otherwise we would all rock or CPU's at 5hgz+

you voltages are stupidly high already...if you don't plan on using this chip for a long time i guess you could try 1.45v but this could (will) substantialy reduce the lifespan of your CPU..1.4v is already slowly killing it IMHO.

What many people seem to forget is that not all the G3258 will automatically be overclockable to 4.8 GHz looks to me like you just reached the limit of your chip.

WHOA that voltage is dangerous.  I wouldn't go any higher than 1.36 volts.

As it's a dual core it's lifespan is already pretty limited, so 1.4-1.45v is probably fine.

 

Although @ben89 should definitely be aware that anything over 1.30v~ will degrade the chip and limit the lifespan with anything over 1.40v causing quite a bit more deterioration.

I had intel xeon 1230v3 on it but sold it now because i want to upgrade soon to 2011-3

 

@othersiders i just ask because i saw people playing bf4 with 4,8GHZ and voltage was 1,45 or even 1,50...

yeah but at 1.5v+ the lifespan can often be in the orders of a couple hours only...

You shouldn't have a problem running BF4 at your current clock speed.

Okay thanks for the Info, it seems that 4,6 GHZ is really the max. here
