There are M.2 SSDs that do not run off the PCIe interface and instead off Sata 3.

Can someone explain to me why manufacturers create M.2 drives that use a SATA interface. I don't understand why anyone would buy an M.2 drive that is still limited by SATA.

I thought that the new M.2 and Sata express both run upto 10gig/sec and that there is some older type drives like the one you found on amazon that are still 6gig/sec.

its relitivly new generation hardware and so to me looks like there is still some with older interfaces, (the link didn't show an image)

Also  am thinking that an M.2 drive ssd is basically a sata ssd but with no protective covers and it is direct mounting to the m/board to reduce cables, save space and has upto 10gig/sec bandwidth,

could be wrong, but i think its just an earlier drive, or it gives people the choice of having a M.2 drive in a traditional ssd casing to plug into a normal sata 3.0 socket for those that have older m/boards without a M.2 socket.

got to love Asus components
