ODDs are ugly and serve little purpose. (unless you actually need it for something other than installing the OS)

The original V300s were decent, but Kingston swapped out the controller for a shitty one after all the reviews were published. Now, it's pretty much crap.

Well by benchmarks - mine's slow but actually it's veryyy snapy for what I need it to do

Here is my future PC:

CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $219.88

CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM $77.98

Motherboard ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 $104.99

Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 $130.97

Storage Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" SSD $54.99  --  Hitachi Ultrastar 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $48.00

Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V $343.99

Case Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower $112.75

Power Supply EVGA 750W ATX12V / EPS12V $79.99

Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $18.75

Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) $89.98

Custom Red Leds

$8.99

(Total: $1291.26)

Is there anything wrong with it or any recommendations for it?

Thanks,

Alex.

Don't get a V300, I'd also lose the optical drive.

For an ssd: (whichever is cheaper)

Crucial MX100, M550, M500

Samsung 840 evo/pro, 850 evo/pro

Sandisk Ultra 2, Extreme 2

Adata SP900

And if the purpose is gaming, then 8gb of ram is still plenty.

I'd also get an EVGA G2 750w psu as it's much better.

Mine is actually pretty fast
