My friend got a very old gpu the geforce gtx 280

Yea I know it's a dinosaur but the problem is he cant launch farcry 4. At first i thought that it was a driver problem so i updated it but, can the game "refuse" the graphics card?

What are the other specs of your friends computer?

It sounds like the game might now want to launch because the GPU may not meet the minimum specs, let alone the recommended specs. I mean, its FC4 vs. a gtx 280. Not sure what would happen if I tried to replicate it.

Uhm, cant really remeber the specific but a intel core 2 or something like that. 4 gb ddr2 ram.

I Know that he wont be able to "play" the game but i want to show him that i can launch.

If your friend is using a Core 2 Duo then that is the problem, because FC4 doesn't support dual core CPU's(without patches).
