I'm building my first build and I am looking for helpful advice. Anywhere where I'm spending too much money for the performance I'm getting or where a different brand can sell me similar but cheaper parts, I'd like to know. Otherwise if I'm doing anything terribly wrong, also tell me.

You could go with a cheaper PSU and get rid of the 212 Evo for the time being.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

okay disregard what the other dude said about the psu you never wanna go to cheap. i would actually reccomend skiping the ssd and getting a better mobo and a 2tb drive. as i can see with your choice of cooler you want to oc so never cheap out on the mobo when ocing. look at my build i didnt skimp out at all because if you skimp it will affect you maybe not right away but deffinitly down the line and that 280x is gonna pull alot of juice so be aware of that. you might actually wanna get a better psu because i think your reaching its limits, id say go with a 550 or 600 instead if you could budget it.

CA-RIP, Cz up hoes down, bang these hoes out with my rounds.

I am looking to overclock to around 4.0 ghz so wouldn't the 212 evo be a safe investment?

without a doubt but your going to want a better power supply with more wattage and/or a better motherboard because if your overclocking thats what will go unstable givin you have adaquit cooling which you do. so just loose the ssd and spend it on an upgrade for the psu and mobo. or you can just get a better mobo and you should in theory be safe.
