Hey everyone, this is my first time using a forum. If i put this in the wrong forum please don't bash me I just want you guys opinion on a future build. The workstation will be used primarily for video editing, photo editing, and coding(Unity 3D pro). I don't know to much about how to go about picking parts. I have build a pc before for my girlfriend just for her typically graduate school life. Just browsing the web, writing papers, and etc just typical school things. I did pretty good no hiccups everything running great she has no complaints.

My budget for my personal workstation is about $3,000(US, don't really wanted to spend more because Unity is expensive).

-> For my CPU I want to buy is Intel Core i7 - 5820k

-> For my motherboard I want ASUS x99-e ws

My questions are will the 28 PCIe Lanes from my CPU limit my use of M.2 slots or anything of that nature? Also, what GPU would you guys recommend? Lastly, would I need 2 GPUs?

I personally think you don't need two graphics cards!  If your budget was in the 5k range, I would say go for high end graphics cards, but since its only 3k , I would spend like 500 dollars on a graphics card. Processors are very important for what you want to do, I don't think you need to go big on the graphics cards. I think you should focus on getting good monitors (like a LGUM95  or a pair of asus 1440p monitors).

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

Thanks I didn't take account of monitor so I wouldn't mind spending the extra money on the LG UM95. So thanks I really do like the monitor just by doing a quick search I love wide screen monitors plus it has thunderbolt technology for future add ons to my cpu. Also thanks about the single GPU.
