I have an old Asus mother board, Intel Pentium CPU (2.40GHz), a few gigs of ram .etc and I want to run Mac OSx on it (make it a "Hackintosh"), I wont be putting a heavy load on it just using it for a few light programs. Is it possible?

Your motherboard is the essentially the main component that has to be compatible. I tried making a hackintosh out of an old Pentium 4 rig, and it didnt work for me. However, you may have a different experience. I would suggest just to go for it, as I doubt people will reliably be able to say if your system is compatible or not. Go on tonymacx86.com and research some, and then when your ready, try and install mac OSX. The worst case is that it doesnt work, and you just go back to windows.

I was reading and i found that the mobo needs a DSDM File or something and its possible to just make one or find one for your mobo is this true?

You'd probably be better off just running an OS X virtual machine on your current machine.  Trying to get it up and running on that old rig probably won't be fun.
