Yeah, I would probably go H97 if its cheaper because you wont see the benefit of a Z97 board. If that lets you fit in an R9 280, definitely go for it. Remember to skip the 270X as it doesnt make much sense when you can just overclock the 270 to perform just as good.

so ASUS or MSI? In your opinion for a h97 board which brand? looks irrelevant
