No! That CPU will bottleneck your GPU significantly. Get a low end intel i5 like the 4460 with a cheap H97 or Z97 Mobo.

I think it should work. Should not bottle neck. It is really hard to bottleneck but might.  What is your goal for this pc? What case will you use. Remember you need storage.

Also use http://pcpartpicker.com/ Then in the right side should be a export / markup. Export to BBCode and post what is in to bottom to the page.

Here is a video about bottlenecking.

My main concern is that the GPU and CPU will not "optimize" will the i5-4690K and the MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX work?

@jousef That is a much better balanced build with the 4690K and the GTX 970. Id get atleast a 500W PSU but the 430W should suffice. Maybe get a seagate barracuda 1TB instead of the samsung. Otherwise its good.

Bad storage, bad case, bad psu, unnecessary optical drive

My Build: 4690k @ 4.7 GHz, ASUS Strix 970 @ 1316 MHz, H105, Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 1600 MHz, H440, RM750

Care to suggest something?

Why is the storage bad though?

Sorry, kinda busy atm. Heres a PCPP

About 1300 canadian dollars. To answer your question, the Kingston SSDs are notorious for being low quality. The spinpoint is fine, but I prefer Seagate personally.

Also, the case can be switched out with an H440, or maybe an R4 if you want a more quiet system.

The psu does not have all the power connectors needed by the gpu.

The cpu will actually do a pretty decent job in most titles running 1920x1080.

I wont be needing a cooler? is it because the cpu is locked and cannot be over clocked?

Eh if you wanna overclock do a 4690k with a decent aftermarket cooler. If not, go 4460.

The ram is not compatible with the mobo in the link you sent me

so is this a bottle neck?

Eh clock speed on ram doesn't really matter much, but heres another ram kit http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-2x4GB-1600MHz/dp/B00J8E93G6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1421804492&sr=1-1&keywords=1600+mhz+ram&pebp=1421804493277&peasin=B00J8E93G6 thats a bit cheaper and is 1600 mhz ( also looks pretty cool )

yeah but the mobo doesnt support this speed at DDR3 1866, it caps at 1600

Intel's XMP, Extreme Memory Profile, certifies that the memory can run overclocked at particular speeds and timings. The motherboard specification indicates that it can run overclocked memory.

From http://www.msi.com/product/mb/z97_guardpro.html#hero-specification

"- Support four DDR3 DIMMs 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*/2200*/2400*/2600*/2666*/2800*/3000*/3100*/3200*/3300*(*OC) MHz, up to 32GB Max.

- Supports Dual-Channel mode

- Supports non-ECC, un-buffered memory

- Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)"
