Do you even animate?

I'm sorry if this topic doesn't belong here, i couldn't find any better place for it.

 

So, i've been working really hard to make funny textaloud-powered videos for Youtube, but every single time i think i'm close to actually release a video, there's something i still have to learn and i finally reached the point in wich i think i need to start making some animations instead of just playing with Premier P and stuff.

 

The thing is, i don't understand anything about it and when i thought i was determined to learn it, i found this:

My only question is: how in the world do you make this kind of things on your own, have you ever made any animation i can watch (i'd really love to) and also wich programs do you use for animating.

It says in the video description what software he used: Toonboom Harmony + Adobe Photoshop + Adobe Premiere

 

Most animators use flash aswell...

I loved the Naruto vs Pain fight. But this reminds me of the original Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. And sort of the final Naruto vs Sasuke fight. (if your read the mangas).

but he spent like what.. a year(months?) of his life

animating 2 dolls hitting eachother and for what?

because it's cool?

 

It sure is nice, but i think there is alot more to 

animation as a medium than this.

I did game design (which had 3D animation) and then later animation in college. Was pretty much a waste of three years I was so bad at it, especially the animation. haha

I work with a partner. They do the sketches on paper then scan them and send them to me. I then touch them up in Photoshop and use after effects for the animation and some music. I will then use premier pro to edit the final clip. And I'll add the intro animation footage music outro and so on. If I need to do some audio editing I'll use audition. And export in media encoder. I only use those programs because I managed to get master collection for $100, what a steal. Tho I do a very different form of animation to stay you want to do but I imagine all that you would change is the process in aftereffects. (IDK if this helped but it is all I got) good luck and update this thread once you have finished a project or two.

 

Sure i will share some project when it's finished, only hope forum admins won't take it as "Necroing" the thread, and i also think it would be easier to hand-draw my models and then just photoshop them since i have not any digital pad (wacom things).
