Front audio-connectors not working

Go to solution Solved by bandulete,

Front Audio connectors are like the worse no matter what to be honest, I would always suggest plugging to the back, which I know can be a bit of a pin sometimes. But those cables that you connect usually have low impedance output and also the cables are really bad quality so hence why the low volume and the mushiness in your sound. If your computer is booting fine I would rule out the 24 pin connector. Now why don't you try your back audio connector and see how that one works for you? Remember if you don't have a good sound card or a DAC sound might not be the best because basically the integrated sound card is going to pick up some noise unless you have a very good motherboard, which yours is a good motherboard, but remember the cables you are connecting to them came from your case. Also what headphones are you plugging in?

Hey guys! I just finished building my new computer, it starts and runs just fine!

My only problem is that when I plug my headphones in, the audio sounds kinda "mushed", I guess? The left and right channels come out of both ears, the volume is really low and in general it sounds horrible... I found out that I plugged my front audio connector in wrong when I booted the computer for the first time, and plugged the bottom of the connector into the top 4 pins on the JAUD1-connector...

I have a MSI Z97-G43 motherboard and a Corsair 450D... I also had some trouble getting my 24-pin correctly plugged in, if that makes any difference?
