I have a computer that is more powerful than my family needs so I am trying to set it up so that two people can use the computer at the same time, similar to windows multipoint. I was thinking of using softXpand but it says it doesn't support windows 8. I'm still going to try that to see if it works, but if not I have another idea.

My other options are to use Aster which does support windows 8, but i'm not sure how good of a program that is, or to use a linux alternative to mulipoint, and then set up windows 8 virtual desktops on each of the clients.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or see problems with my ideas that I don't?

Why not just use multipoint?

EDIT: I might've been wrong, need to do some more reading.

Ok after reading I believe I need a multipoint 2012 license ($300), and then a CAL for each person. The cheapest i've seen a CAL is 100 per person or 150 for 5.

So if I only want to set up multipoint for 2 people, it will cost me $450 at which point I might as well build another pc.

I'm not sure but I might also need a windows 8 license for each CAL as well.
