Hi all, so over the last few days I have noticed ping spikes in source games such as global offensive and tf2. My ping will be fine (around 60ms) but every minute or so there is a spike where it will reach up too 300ms causing me to die. I am fairly certain it is NOT a network issue as this problem does not exist on my laptop with lower specs than my desktop. Does anyone know the problem? I have tried a registry fix, verify game cache and most of the obvious things. The issue only seems to happen on source games, even on community servers.

Could be a hard drive issue and most likely is

Should I try defragmentation or is it toast?

First related to the servers did you use the same server on both your laptop and pc?If so you had the same spike issues? If you didn't use the same server then everything is fine...if the problems occur on some servers only, again is the sever's fault

Then may be a hard disk issue.Use this or this(or download crystal disk from where ever you please) and post a screen shot here.

Looking normal...maybe some bad sectors.Use this (careful with the install there's a lot of crapware) and check for bad sectors/check disk. After you install it click go to home select the partition your games are on and check disk.If bad sectors are a few to non then is not a disk issue

I had this problem when playing halo reach on my xbox, you need to open ports on your router for that game. Here is a website that will help you with opening the ports on your router for CS:GO.

Depending on your router make sure you open both TCP and UDP and make sure to set your computer to a static IP.

This may help ^^

Not sure though. Seems a bit weird, especially for Source.

Here is a recording I made. You can see my ping in the bottom, this is the worst it has been. It generally sticks around 60-70ms with spikes. This does not occur on my other computer on the same connection.
