Is this upgradeable to say a GTX 970 or something? and a new processor.

of course the socket supports up to a I7-4790K (super great CPU- I think that more CPUs will be released by intel for this socket, not sure though-) and the chipset allows to O.C all compatible unlocked processors 

and you may need to O.C your CPU to use the 970 without a bottleneck (a bottleneck means that you will not be able to get the true performance of one part of the PC, because of another relatively slower component).
