So guys I've had my i7 920 D0 x58 for like 4 years or something crazy, and every now and then I try push it hard, just to see if I can't stretch its life out a bit longer before going to a i7 5820 x99.

The current system is running a H100i, with a coolermaster cm storm trooper chassis. Yet my temps are highish at 65-70 under game load, and 75 under max loading, its running at some ridiculous voltage like v1.39 and oc'd from 2.6 to 4.0ghz HT is ON and i dont wanna turn it off, i have 1866 Vengence ram thats running at 1607mhz cant find away to get out from the x20 multiplier because my board [foxconn flamingblade gti] is a piece of shit.... that said its Rockstable at 4Ghz and i cant afford to loose that stabilty as i use the machine as a Workstation for 3ds max rendering. I've read about the Highest OC on that chip is being 4,6Ghz off of water, so assuming thats a crazy triple rad with a second double rad setup how close do you think it should get and still be stable like it is..

4.6ghz is probably with dry ice or something. 4ghz is a pretty good overclock for a 920.

Yea 4ghz is realistic. Some manage to get 4.2, some really lucky ones 4.4.

Theres a great guide over at overclock.net on how to overclock your 920, I suggest you give that a read. 920 D0 stepping usually need less vcore than the C0 stepping :)

but i think is a Memory / Northbridge thats dying from heat as the northbridge heatsink gets well into the 70 +centigrade range
