I plan on switching my motherboard and cpu, which is an MSI g43 z87 and i5 4570, to an x79 platform. I haven't decided on the Motherboard yet, but I plan on using the i7 4930k. I heard all of these rumors where when you switch a motherboard, you have to reinstall windows or else everything will be incompatible. Is this true? Please someone help me.

Yes when switching the mobo you have to reinstall windows or do this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/106642-how-to-keep-your-current-windows-install-with-a-new-motherboard/

Why would you switch to X79 tho and not the current X99? You could always just buy a new cpu like the 4690K if the 4570 is getting to slow for you...

Oh my god, I am so dumb. I think I might just switch to the i7 4770k. I do a lot of video rendering in Sony Vegas. So, if I switch a CPU, do I need to reinstall Windows?

No only switching the mobo will need a new windows install - cpu change doesnt. You might wanna get the 4790K (the updated 4770K). And dont forget to do a bios update before installing the new cpu.
