I upgraded my motherboard a while back and had always used a USB mic so I never encountered this problem. When I plug a pair of headphone into the green 3.5 mm headphone jack on the motherboard, there is no sound. I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers from the manufacturers website, ensure that the headphones work with other devices, made sure they were enabled in the bios, have them selected as the default, and when I ran the windows audio troubleshooting tool, the result was that the headphones weren't plugged in. I don't know what could be happening. Please help!

i'm really hoping that's not the case, but if it is, i still have warranty

some may find it a hassle to send the board for RMA

others may just invest in a USB headset

i could get a usb dac, was thinking about it anyway

Did you check the ports on the back of the PC?

Also, if you want to invest in a USB dac and amp, I would strongly suggest the Schiit Stack.
