Solution for mobile listening

Ok so here's my dilemma:

As I'm sure all of you have realized, high-end headphones/earbuds tend to have fairly large connectors. However, phone cases tend to not have enough space for these large connectors. Do any of you guys have a solution for this that will allow me to keep my case? I can only seem to find extremely long male to female extension cables.
