So I just finished building my PC and was looking at temps in AI Suite. I have a 4790k and a sabertooth Mark 2 mobo with an h60 cooler. Mounting the cold plate for the h60 was a little more of a pain than I expected so I was eager to see what temps were to make sure it was fully seated.

Anyway my idle CPU temp is around 31-34 which Im assuming isn't too bad, but It also lists my vcore temp and it sits at 61C and above permanently on idle. Its the only temp reading that's in red. I have no clue if that's normal or not. I ran an assessment with the AI suite and my CPU load temp got up to 69C @ 93.8 watts. Is that high?

Does this seem normal, should I be at all concerned or maybe try applying new thermal paste and reseating the h60? I haven't don't any hardcore gaming yet and everything is running stock.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x,  MOBO: ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Pro wifi, CPU cooler: Noctua U12a RAM: Gskill Ripjaws V @3600mhz,  GPU: Asus Tuf RTX OC 3080 PSU: Seasonic Focus GX850 CASE: Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh Storage: 500 GB Inland Premium M.2,  Sandisk Ultra Plus II 256 GB & 120 GB

Can you show us a screenshot with what you mean vcore temp when its sitting at 61c? im not sure what you mean.

69 degrees is nothing to be worried about though ;)

Reseating won't help, as Vcore is your VRMs. What voltage is your CPU at?

whats your room temp?

if you have xmp enabled your temp is perfect

if you dont have xmp enabled, they are a tad bit high unless your room temps is 29c or higher

Sorry Im at work at the moment so I can't give a screen shot, but the reason I was thinking about reseting the cooler is I was worried it sat too far to the left and was making contact with some capacitors.

In ai suite it shows the source of the 61 c temps to the left of the cpu(your left when looking at it), around where the mosfets are I think. The temp gradually climbs before settling in the low 60s at idle, which is why I was suspicious the h60 making unwanted contact was at least a slight possibility.

My ambient temp is 22c and the case is a corsair 450d. What seems odd is that all my other mobo temps are high 20s and low 30s at idle but the vcore temp sits in the low 60s. That may be normal for all I know.

I think xmp is enabled but can't be sure at the moment.

The absence of an air cooler on your cpu results in reduced airflow around there and may result in higher Vcore temperature. I wouldn't worry about it too much though.

Desktop:     Core i7-9700K @ 5.1GHz all-core = ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate = 16GB HyperX Predator DDR4 @ 3600MHz = Asus ROG Strix 3060ti (non LHR) = Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD = ASUS PG279Q

Notebook:  Clevo P651RG-G = Core i7 6820HK = 16GB HyperX Impact DDR4 2133MHz = GTX 980M = 1080p IPS G-Sync = Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 SSD + Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD

So what would be a normal temp reading?

I'm less concerned with trying to get the lowest temps possible than I am making sure everything is working good. I'd rather know now if a part has a problem than after I can't return it.
