Going All Out

Go to solution Solved by fatsumie,

ok what's intel's best processor

the i7 5960x which uses the x99 LGA 2011-3 board. I'd go with a asus x99 deluxe if I were going to get that cpu

6

it has 6 PCI-E lanes but you only can run 4 GPUs

how are you gonna squeeze 6 GPUs onto the board???

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

It has 40 PCIe lanes. Please don't mix up up lanes and slots.

topsu was mentioning about the mobo support 6 GPUs which is not possible even with X99 boards

yes i know the 40 lanes for GPUs

it means you can only support GPU at X16 X8 X8 X8 for 4 way SLi and CF

and GPU drivers only support 4 GPUs max in SLi and CF

I know. :)  I was just pointing out that you used the word "lane" incorrectly in that post. You either meant "6 slots" or "enough lanes for 6" or something like that, but you said "it has 6 lanes" - which is incorrect, and that's why I asked you to be a little more precise (there's already too much confusion about PCIe lanes out there, as can be seen in many threads around here.). :)
