I have built a new system, and i have the Maximus formula vi mobo. I'm trying to install windows 7 from USB and somehow i can't; in bios i selected boot priority to UEFI usbname but once i restart it goes to a black screen for a few seconds with the prompt just blinking and then going back to bios. I've also tried to go into 'ez mode' and simply boot from the usbname without the UEFI in front of it. The USB is fat 32 format with the contents of the extracted windows 7 iso. Any ideas?

microsoft provides a USB tool

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

download the program

located your Windows 7 ISO and make sure your thumbdrive is at least 8GB

it will format the drive and load the Win 7 ISO and convert it to become bootable

make sure you use only USB 2.0 ports as the USB 3.0 ports will only work with the chipset drivers installed after Windows is installed

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
