Please help, Internet problem

Hitman123

Ok so in my house it's me, my sister, mum and dad. Every afternoon I play battlefield 4 multiplayer and my siblings or parents are always on the Internet. Now the problem is that on my PC I am using wireless, so is my parents. When I play my multiplayer, on every other device connected the Internet is slowed down ALOT. Our ISPS is Telstra and the modem that was given to us from telstra to use is the Telstra technicolor TG797nV3. Will upgrading this modem allow me to play the game, my parents to use the Internet at full speed. I'm in Australia and if the problem is bandwidth what modem should I buy.

I am also unaware what IEEE spec it uses 802.11WHAT

Thankyou,

Hitman123

Why not use a wire instead of wireless? Way better connection. If a large amount of people connect at the same time you will see a degradtion in quality no matter what.

^That

And ,what is the advertised bandwidth of your internet connection with your ISP?

I guess it shouldn't matter but with very low bandwidth I've seen strange stuff hapenning.

That French guy who lives in the Netherlands and speaks German.

Wireless pretty much sucks 100% of the time, even when you're the only one using it.

Switch to wired. Cat5e Ethernet cable is dirt-cheap and plug and play. You get a much faster and more robust connection, and your ping gets cut in half. Trust me, you'll almost never have to reset your router and it doesn't get in the way of your family's internet, because their slow-down is due to a lack of wireless bandwidth, not internet bandwidth.

Even if you have to wire it through your house, it's totally worth it.

Sorry but I really can't run a wire through, but what I'm trying to ask is that will upgrading to a 802.11ac router let more devices to download at a significantly faster speed

Thankyou,
