Unlocking it yourself would take a very large amount of work, easier to have sprint do it, or use a hammer.

Umm, i dont know in the USA, but here in Spain, after the contract has expired with your carrier they MUST unlock it for free. (does take a couple of calls and 2-3 days before they give in though).

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link
