Cannot Enter BIOS on X79 Extreme 6

Hi all,

I can't seem to be able to get into the BIOS on my ASRock X79 Extreme 6. I am having the same issue as I did previously on my Asus P9X79 Deluxe, thinking it was a motherboard problem I went out to purchase an ASRock X79 Extreme 6, however this seems to be having the same issue.

Upon booting up the system, the system does not display the ASRock logo or anything, it goes directly into the boot sequence and has the Dr. DEBUG at the bottom right hand corner. Every time I attempt to go into BIOS, pressing DEL or F2 key it flashes into post for a split second and jumps into a blank black screen, same with pressing F11 key just to select boot device. This is perplexing and I don't think it has to do with my GPU or the CPU as it has been tested and working fine previously.

Can anyone help me? It'd be greatly appreciated if any help was given.

PS. BIOS version was P1.50 which supports i7-3820.

EDIT: Dr. DEBUG Shows a error LED of 0D

Is the hardware exactly the same as before in terms of RAM?

Try clearing the CMOS and try holding the enter bios key from the startup don't wait for the logo to show up.

Already tried clearing CMOS.

Yes it is. Could it actually be the RAM?

any way you could update the bios to 2.10? also maybe try a clear cmos if you have not. this is a different motherboard but the solution maybe the same

I'm actually going to try the solution posted in that URL. Strange how I didn't come across it. Also I can't update the BIOS because it won't allow me to select a boot device to actually enter DOS.

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay. Post back here for any other issues/questions you have.

Ok, sorry to bring this up again but I'm having the same issues again no idea why. The only thing that I changed was the GPU heatsink... Everything else remained the same and the USB 3.0 header remains removed.

It can still boot into windows just fine though, without me touching anything.
